Maciek Posluszny

My name is Maciek Posluszny, I am a music teacher at BISC Wroclaw.

I really understand young people and their unabatedfascination with the world of sounds, curiosity towards musical instruments, and the excitement of playing in a band. I was once the same. From the first moment I got my first guitar from my father, I fell in love with music.

I began my music education by playing classical guitar. However, soon after I discovered the beauty of popular music and started a pop band with some of my friends. After graduating from high school, I studied Musical Education at the University of Opole, which led to a Master of Arts degree and the necessary qualifications to teach music. During my studies at the University, I became interested in jazz harmony, swing and improvisation. That inspired me to start playing jazz and I studied jazz guitar at the Wroclaw Jazz School, which was an interesting experience. Soon I started playing in professional bands performing live and in studios sessions.

There is something magical in music that allows one to express ourselves and release emotions in almost every age group and every culture. I have always been attracted by the emotional aspect of music which helps me share joy with friends and get through difficult times -even today. What is more, this attraction was so strong that last year I started a postgraduate Music Therapy studies course at the Music Academy in Wroclaw. This year I expect to finish it.

I started teaching music in schools in 2006 and I did not expect it to be such fun! Children naturally, and with great enthusiasm, enter the world of music increasing their sensitivity, broadening their musical tastes, developing creativity and experiencing many other qualities and skills. What I personally like in teaching music is that children sometimes allow me to enter their own colourful and extraordinary world, which is what I appreciate most!
