Alex Sitkowiecki

I'm the Years 7/8 class tutor and the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instructor for the upper school. I also teach English and conduct a Polish-language course for parents in my spare time.

I hail from the host city of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Vancouver lies on the Pacific Ocean, on the west coast of North America at a confluence point where East meets West and European-American culture blends seamlessly with the culture of Southeast Asia. Almost every nation in the world is represented in our city. Much like Vancouver, our classroom environment is very international as there are nine of us representing six nationalities and three continents! It makes me feel right at home!

How did I find myself in Poland? After graduating from university, I decided to move for a 'short while' to the country my parents had taught me so much about. One challenge led to another, and I am still here seven years later! Sure, I sometimes get homesick and miss the "rainy" forests of British Columbia, but Poland has a lot to offer as well. In my time away from school, I enjoy the odd bike-odyssey, shoestring budget tourism, and an interesting chat over a hot cup of coffee. So, if you see me around the school, don't be afraid to strike up a conversation. But please, not before 10am!
