Diana Tonge

My name is Diana Tonge and I've recently joined BISC as the Year 2 class teacher. I have many years experience teaching primary age children; mainly Years 1 and 2. I qualified as a teacher from what is now Manchester University in 1974. Prior to deciding to go into full time teaching I had some interesting jobs that included working in an art gallery, as a journalist's assistant, in the education library at Leeds university and teaching English as a foreign language.

Home is in a pretty village called Lymm in Cheshire, in the Northwest of England, where I have been based for about 25 years. I am married to a Chartered Engineer who has spent his career working in engineering and construction as a consultant and contractor. He has recently retired and is looking forward to our time together living in Wroclaw.

We have 2 daughters, Hannah and Lizzie. Hannah, who is 30, is an accountant and Lizzie is 27 and works in publishing. We also have a beautiful granddaughter, Lottie, who is 16 months old. It's a very busy time for us at the moment as Hannah is getting married in Cheshire on 3 September!

Overall I have around 25 years of full time teaching experience. Most of this has been gained with a private school on the outskirts of Manchester. For the last 4 years we have lived abroad. We spent 2 years in Pune, India where my husband was managing an engineering design office and then 2 years in Doha where I was teaching a Year 2 class in a private school with a wide range of nationalities.

My main interests outside work are tennis, travelling, reading and spending time with my granddaughter!
